| The capture and release of an Oribi |
NCT has been involved in the conservation of the endangered Oribi antelope since 2002. The Co-operative plays an active role in influencing Members to preserve natural grassland habitats. As the main sponsor to the Oribi Custodian and Relocation programmes, managed by the Oribi Working Group (OWG), NCT has aligned itself with the OWG, affiliated to the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
NCT is also involved in the National Grassland programme, a regional initiative to conserve biodiversity within the grassland biome. The programme aims to secure conservation status of key grasslands by engaging with land users and providing incentives. The forestry sector has been identified as a key stakeholder in this process; NCT represents the interests of medium-scale timber growers in the industry.
