27 INTEGRATED ANNUAL REPORT 2023 NCT’s Tree Farming footprint borders a number of rural communities. Maintaining positive relationships with these communities is essential particularly given the challenging economic climate prevailing which can lead to friction and conflict. A structured community assistance programme has been established targeted specifically at neighbouring communities. An NCT Community Liaison Officer continuously assists NCT Estate Managers with communications and needs assessments. NCT has, to date, assisted with critical aspects such as work and contracting opportunities, bursaries and provision of essentials such as: • Solar borehole • Community hall for mobile clinics • A feeding scheme initiative • Cattle fencing • Material for mobile libraries • Flood relief to flood victims • Infant care equipment for foster home • Musical instruments for music literacy initiative • School uniforms • Special needs devices for children with disabilities.
