N E W S & V I E W S • D E C E M B E R 2 0 2 4 9 A Landcruiser equipped with duel high pressure / high volume rotating monitors, capable of delivering independent directed water steams at 6400 l/min, 80 m far, and propelled by 16 bar pressure, will be used as a roaming attack modem. The trailer it pulls carries the high-pressure pump which couples into any point along the reticulation system. It is certainly clear that this system provides Reach (distance), Rate (high volume) and serves to Replace water by having water on hand literally across the complex. Further enhancing Reach, chip piles will be stacked in a manner to accommodate a tactical road of 14 degrees thereby allowing the cruiser and its monitors access right to the top of the piles. As exciting as it is to watch the re-build of the wood chip production infrastructure, the installation of brand-new cladding on buildings all dressed in fresh NCT livery, gantry columns being “re-sleeved” and gantries themselves being refurbished and modernised, there is a critical and underlying protection and response strategy at play. It is said that one should “never waste a good crisis”. NCT certainly had a crisis, and I can say with huge conviction, that NCT is certainly not wasting it! We are rebuilding and rising from this tragedy stronger, ready, in control, and able to respond far more efficiently, and quickly, to risk elements than ever before in our 75 years of existence.
