29 INTEGRATED ANNUAL REPORT 2026 NCT Logistics NCT Logistics continued to play a strategic role in bringing the point of sale closer to the farm while securing competitive transport rates, sufficient freight capacity and reduced delivery risk for growers. During the year, 561 496 tonnes were transported by road through the NCT job code and tariffing system, with a further 62 497 tonnes moved by rail. PBS vehicle usage accounted for 248 337 tonnes, while loading operations reached a record 309 070 tonnes. In total, 789 growers utilised NCT’s logistics services across brokered road transport, loading operations, rail and depot services. Further logistics improvements focused on transport cost optimisation through increased use of rail and PBS combinations, consolidated loading supported by route optimisation, and improved load scheduling through a shared automated platform that enhanced visibility, control and daily monitoring across the supply chain. Depot operations were strengthened by the opening of the Umlaas Road Depot to support suppliers and provide buffer stock capability for both NCT Durban Wood Chips and Sappi Saiccor. These measures improved cost efficiency, strengthened access to appropriate technology, supported stock discipline and contributed to carbon reduction through fewer road trips and greater use of rail-linked solutions.
