As someone who’s just traded the hustle and bustle of travel and hospitality for the leafy landscape of forestry, I’ve discovered a few things about the team dynamics here, and let me tell you – it’s been an exciting and eye-opening experience! First off, let’s address the obvious: trees don’t talk, but foresters do. And they have a lot to say! From the moment I walked in, I was bombarded with new terminology: pulpwood, silviculture, thinning (and no, it’s not just about losing weight). It felt like learning a new language, but instead of German or Spanish, it was fluent Forestry. My first meeting was a blur of acronyms and industry jargon, and when someone mentioned ‘cruising,’ it wasn’t about sailing off into a sunset over the Adriatic Sea. Nope, it was all about measuring trees. Naturally, I had to Google it afterward to make sure I wasn’t completely lost. What really stands out, though, is the team. Imagine a diverse group of people united by their love for trees. We have everyone from seasoned pros who can identify a species just by the sound of its leaves crunching underfoot to other newbies like me still figuring things out. The atmosphere here feels like joining an eclectic family—everyone knows their stuff, but they’re more than willing to help you learn, too. One of the first things I noticed is how easily people switch between serious work talk to lightto hearted banter. Team spirit isn’t just a concept here; it’s a way of life. Whether they’re out in the field cultivating new clone seedlings or back in the office crunching numbers, there’s a strong sense of camaraderie. And let’s not forget the classic newbie rite of passage: mastering the art of brewing the perfect cappuccino at the office “watering hole”. My first attempt resulted in what could only be described as “mildly caffeinated water,” but it’s a learning curve, okay? It’s all part of fitting into this dynamic ecosystem, where every role is crucial, and every tree, log, and cup of coffee matters. A few months in, I’m slowly but surely finding my footing in this green world. I’m still adjusting to things, like the detailed meeting minutes (who knew trees had so much to discuss?). I’m embracing the learning process, and that’s half the fun. The team dynamic at NCT Forestry reminds me a lot of the trees we care for – strong, supportive, and ever-growing. Each person brings something unique to the table, whether it’s years of experience, a fresh viewpoint, or just a great sense of humour. And you know what?
