The maximum DBH of trees should be in the range of 14cm, bigger trees will give a small end diameter of over 100mm. Average DBH:10 -14cm Transmissions: The pole length required are between 9.5m to 14.7m with a small end diameter of 140mm to 200mm. The minimum DBH of the trees should be 21 cm. Maximum DBH is not an issue because pulp lengths can be taken out the butt of the log to get the correct pole. Average DBH: 10cm-14cm To accommodate for these markets, one needs to apply the principles of “growing small timber small” and “big timber bigger”. By applying this approach one can achieve 50-75% pole recovery.
